Eserv were requested by a North Sea operator to carry out an as-built comparison between the old and new HP compressor units for their offshore installation. As the installation was in a full production shutdown, the purpose of the output was to identify any discrepancies between the existing pipework and instrument connections, as all existing components were being retained and reused offshore.
By leveraging our latest mixed reality technology, a detailed data capture of the existing and new compressor was carried out at the client’s onshore facility. An as-built point cloud of each unit was produced and overlaid to produce a 3D mix reality verification report, highlighting the 3D and radial errors for all identified connections, giving foresight into any potential installation issues of the existing components.
The successful change out of the compressor was critical for the asset going back into production. By undertaking the 3D mixed reality analysis, the operator was able to plan ahead to mitigate any onsite discrepancies eliminating unforeseen offshore manpower downtime or potential extension to the ongoing planned shutdown.
